The Process & Production Technology Center consists of the Process Technology Group and the Specialized Technology Group. The Process Technology Group conducts industrialization research to develop new processes and improve existing manufacturing plants. The Specialized Technology Group supports production operations, which involve manufacturing technology, process system engineering, materials & plant engineering, safety engineering, environmental technology, etc. With a variety of development initiatives related to production, the Center is aiming to establish innovative manufacturing technologies in collaboration with appropriate research departments and manufacturing departments.

Technologies to manufacture products consist of various elements. The Process & Production Technology Center undertakes the upgrading of technologies necessary for development and foundation work, as well as advancing the relevant core technologies.
The Center works not only on the improvement of process economics, but also on the establishment of manufacturing processes that are superior in safety and environmental impact.

	Process research

	In collaboration with synthesis researchers, people at the Process & Production Technology Center carry out pilot studies with the aim of developing industrial production processes and complete process flows and basic equipment design. The Center continues to be involved until a plant is completed and brought into stable operation, sharing engineering information obtained through its work so that it can be incorporated in the construction of other plants.

	Materials & Plant Engineering

	The Center is responsible for the design, operation and maintenance of appropriate manufacturing plants by selecting suitable construction materials and applying equipment diagnosis techniques with due consideration to the life cycle of a plant.
