The Organic Synthesis Research Laboratory was established in 1989 as Sumitomo Chemical's research arm in the field of organic synthesis. The Organic Synthesis Research Laboratory comprises three groups: the Organic Synthesis Group is involved in the establishment of industrial manufacturing processes, the Catalyst Discovery Group aims to develop innovative new catalysts, and the Physical Analysis Group is responsible for industrialization analysis and structural analysis.
The Laboratory is engaged in developing innovative chemical synthesis methods, ground-breaking catalysts, and new synthesis methods using biotechnology for the establishment of industrial production methods for end uses in a wide range of fields, including agrochemicals, IT-related materials and energy-related materials as well as raw materials for basic chemicals.
In addition, as a Corporate Research Laboratory, the Laboratory's various groups are working in concert to make the Company's essential technologies better and more advanced.
