Sumitomo Chemical Identifies 13 Products Anew as "Sumika Sustainable Solutions" Toward Building a Sustainable Society

Sumitomo Chemical has newly identified 13 of its products as "Sumika Sustainable Solutions" which represent the Company’s products and technologies that are expected to help build a sustainable society. By promoting the widespread use of the 13 products, Sumitomo Chemical aims to play its role in contributing toward achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The products identified this time are mainly biorationals and crop protection products for seed treatment that will help reduce the environmental burdens in food production, thus contributing to the promotion of sustainable agriculture and a stable supply of safe and secure farm products. With the addition of the 13 products, the total number of products and technologies identified as "Sumika Sustainable Solutions" thus far is 34, totaling about 290 billion yen in terms of sales in fiscal 2016.

Sumitomo Chemical is engaged in providing solutions with new functionalities and materials, guided by the Company’s business philosophy "We work to contribute to society through our business activities." The "Sumika Sustainable Solutions" initiatives being launched last November, the Company is working actively to double its sales involving
these products and technologies as early as possible.

Sumitomo Chemical will continue to create and offer a broad range of solutions that will contribute to a sustainable society by capitalizing on the great variety of technologies the Company has cultivated in the past as a chemical company operating in widely diverse industrial fields.
