Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. leverages its extensive expertise in polymer chemistry to offer water-based emulsions under the brand name "SUMIKAFLEX™," featuring various ethylene copolymer resins. The primary advantages of using ethylene as a copolymer monomer are as follows:

  1. Ethylene functions as an internal plasticizing monomer, providing an excellent plasticizing effect.
  2. A wide range of polymer designs can be achieved by incorporating different types of copolymerized monomers.
  3. Ethylene offers excellent water resistance and alkali resistance.
  4. It also provides outstanding weather resistance.
  5. Ethylene has strong compatibility with non-polar materials, such as plastics and synthetic fibers.

The SUMIKAFLEX™ series includes water-based emulsions with various polymer compositions, such as ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer resins and acrylic ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resins.

Films formed from SUMIKAFLEX™ are highly adhesive, sufficiently strong and elastic, and particularly excellent in resistance to alkalis and water, as well as durability, due to their unique polymer structure.
