Polyolefin Emulsion

SUMIFITT®

Ⅰ. What is SUMIFITT®?

SUMIFITT® is water-based polyolefin emulsion with strong adhesion to hard-to-adhere material, polypropylene (PP). Moreover, SUMIFITT® expresses the adhesion by lower heat treatment temperature than general adhesive for PP. Therefore, it can reduce energy consumption in the adhesion process.

Ⅱ. Characteristics

1. Excellent Adhesion to PP

Polymer structure nature of SUMIFTT® with high affinity to PP makes it possible excellent adherence to PP. Moreover, it can also adhere to homo-PP, which is difficult to adhere.

Composition: PP composite material/Coated sample (Thickness: 10μm as solid)/Coating agent (Thickness: 100μm as solid)
Coating condition: Degreasing →Coating of SUMIFITT® or Conventional adhesive for PP →Drying (50°C, 5min) →Coating of coating agent →Heat treatment (80°C, 30min)
Peeling condition: Apply cellophane tape to cover the cut area and peel it at the angle of 45°

2. Lower Temperature for Bonding

SUMIFITT® consist of a special polymer with optimized crystallinity and flexibility. Therefore, it can strongly adhere even at lower processing temperature. It contributes to reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emission in the adhesion process.

Peeling condition: 180°peel test (50 mm/min)

3. Multi-material Adhesion

SUMIFITT® could be applied to various resin kinds and metals.

Peeling condition: 180°peel test (100 mm/min)

4. Performance Improvement of Different Types of Emulsions

Combination of SUMIFITT® with different kinds of emulsions such as polyurethane and acrylic one improves PP adhesion. Blending of SUMIFITT® could enhance the performance of adhesion by changing the characteristics of new emulsion.
