As a part of Sumitomo’s Responsible Care Effort, we voluntarily set a target for energy saving, reduction of pollutant emission, and reduction of wastes and we are devout to achieve the target. The figure below, reducing CO2, is one example of our achievement.
Target : Achieve a 15% reduction relative to fiscal 1990 in the CO2 emission rate originating from fossil fuels consumed in-house by fiscal 2010.
Note : Although total CO2 emissions temporarily increased in 2005 due to an acquisition in a year earlier, Sumitomo Chemical succeeded in reducing the CO2 emissions to the same level as before the acquisition and the CO2 Emission Rate is also sufficiently achieved to our target level in 2010.
