Sumitomo Chemical Recognized for CDP Climate Disclosure Leadership Index for the Fourth Consecutive Year

Sumitomo Chemical has been highly recognized by CDP*, an international nonprofit organization, for its excellent disclosure of information on the Company's climate change related activities and achievements. Being listed in CDP’s Climate Disclosure Leadership Index in the Japan 500 Climate Change Report 2015, Sumitomo Chemical has attained four -year consecutive listing since the inception of the indexing.

CDP, which operates on behalf of 822 institutional investors holding US$ 95 trillion in assets, sends a questionnaire on climate change initiatives to major companies worldwide every year. As far as Japan is concerned, the questionnaire is sent to 500major companies based on the FTSE Japan Index.

Of the 500 major Japanese companies surveyed this year, Sumitomo Chemical is the only company in the materials sector to have achieved a perfect score for the listing in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index. This is a clear testament to Sumitomo Chemical being acknowledged as an admired company making positive disclosure of reliable information on its climate change related activities.

Sumitomo Chemical will continue promoting its climate change initiatives proactively, including information disclosure, to properly address the challenges ahead of us.
