In order to achieve a carbon neutral society, the importance of the “Carbon Footprint of Product (CFP)” is more and more important, which expresses the amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted in the processes of the product life cycle, such as mining of raw materials, manufacturing, use, and disposal, in terms of CO₂ emissions.
Sumitomo Chemical has developed its own system, CFP-TOMO^®, which can calculate CFP easily and efficiently.
We have completed the CFP calculations* for approximately 20,000 of our products by the end of 2021 and have begun providing them to customers.
Furthermore, in order to contribute to the expansion of CFP calculation throughout society and the visualization of GHG emissions in the supply chain, we are widely providing this system free of charge.
*Based on calculation within the range from mining of raw materials to shipment of products (Cradle to Gate)
